Junior Olympics meet ...
Attention AMS: In order to control the duration of the JO's meet, the meet is officially closed. Only teams already entered into the meet may change their entries. The only changes that shall be allowed are moving swimmers from one event to another, for events shorter than 400 meters. Teams may also remove swimmers from events or from the meet. At this time we can not add any additional entries to the meet. For additions please contact Pete Barry.

Any Allegheny Mountain Club not in JO's is directed to email entries and contact Pete Barry, Allegheny Mountain Age Group Chairman at pracoach@gmail.com or call 412-889-8314.

7/16/10 The following adjustments have been made to the Junior Olympics meet:

1) We will be limiting all events 400 meters and longer to the fastest 24 swimmers that check in before the positive check-in deadline. We would ask all teams to check the swimmers in to their events as soon as possible. The sooner we can let the Top 24 know the better.

2) For those that are excluded due to these limitations, AMS will be allowing only those swimmers a chance to time trial after the completion of the 12 and Under sessions on Saturday and Sunday time permitting. Time Trials are limited to those already entered into the event prior to the entry deadline date. Time Trials are limited to the 400 and longer events and shall coincide with the events offered on that same day. Swimmers still may not exceed the daily 3-individual-event limit. Swimmers that choose not to time trial, but have already entered and paid for the event shall be issued a refund for a non-swim. Swimmers choosing to enter the Time Trial and not show up, forfeit the event fee and will be listed as a "No Show" and shall be eligible for any punishments or fines that may result from a NS at a championship meet following positive check-in.

3) Time Trials shall conclude at 4:30 PM. Any swimmer unable to swim due to the time limit will be issued a refund.

4) A coaches meeting will be held Friday Morning at 7:15 AM to discuss the following:
-Positive check in shall be required for all events and teams, even Time Trials.
-If a swimmer chooses to not swim, please indicate with a line through the name and the letters "SCR" by the name.
-Each team shall be given a sheet after the team's Coach signs in. The coach (or representative) will have up to 30 minutes prior to the start of each prelim session to return the sheet. Swimmers/Teams not checked in will be assumed as scratched and not seeded.

5) We are eliminating all relays. If you need a relay swim for a sectional or national qualifying time, please raise that point at the coaches meeting and we will see if we can accommodate the swim.

6) All start times shall be as follows:
-All 13-and-Over prelim sessions will start at 8:00 AM
-All 12-and-Under sessions shall start 30 minutes after the completion of the prior session.
-All Finals are scheduled to start at 5:30 PM.

Help us save Collegiate Swimming while helping to ensure your child has a place to swim in college ...
On January 25 of this year, the Duquesne University Athletic Department announced the elimination of the Men’s Swim Team along with Baseball, Wrestling, and Golf. The University cited funding and compliance with Title IX (gender equity) as reasons for these eliminations. As you may have heard, Clemson and others have cut their Swim programs. These cuts will have a lasting impact on our Sport if we don't reverse this trend. Over the last 5 years, 46 Division I Men’s Teams have been cut for funding and alleged unsupported Title IX reasons. Once comprising over 65% of the Division I teams, Men’s Teams now only comprise 40% of member associations. Divisions II and III have also experienced cuts.
